Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 27, 2026
Chance Hunter, CPA operates the Tally HQ mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
1. Information we collect
Tally HQ is designed to minimize data collection. We collect only what is necessary to provide the invoicing service:
- Business profile information you provide during setup: company name, owner name, email address, phone number, business address, and license number. This information is stored locally on your device and is used to populate your invoice headers.
- Client information you enter: client names, email addresses, phone numbers, and job site addresses. This data is stored locally on your device and is used to create and send invoices and estimates.
- Invoice and estimate data: line items, amounts, dates, job photos, payment status, and signatures. Stored locally on your device.
- Device identifiers: an anonymous device identifier used by RevenueCat to manage your subscription. This identifier is not linked to your personal identity.
- Push notification tokens: if you enable notifications, we store your Expo push token on our server to send invoice-related alerts (e.g., "Your invoice was viewed").
2. Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your location data.
- We do not collect payment card numbers, bank account details, or financial credentials. Tally HQ does not process payments — it displays your payment handles (Venmo, Zelle, etc.) on invoices so clients can pay you directly through those platforms.
- We do not use advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or any third-party data collection tools beyond RevenueCat for subscription management.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.
3. How we use your information
- To generate and send invoices and estimates to your clients via email.
- To send you push notifications when a client views or signs a document.
- To send automated payment reminder emails to your clients on your behalf (Pro feature).
- To manage your subscription through RevenueCat.
4. Data storage and security
Your invoices, clients, and business profile are stored locally on your device using SQLite. If you use the cloud sync feature (Pro), a copy of your data is transmitted to our server over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+) and stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on DigitalOcean. Data at rest is encrypted. We retain synced data as long as your account is active.
5. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services:
- RevenueCat — subscription management. Their privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
- Expo Push Notifications — to deliver push notifications to your device. Their privacy policy: expo.dev/privacy
- Resend (or SendGrid) — to send invoice emails and reminders to your clients on your behalf.
6. Data export and deletion
You can export all your data (invoices, clients, business profile) at any time from the Settings screen as CSV or PDF. This feature is always free, regardless of your subscription tier.
You can delete your account and all locally stored data from Settings > Data > Delete Account. If you have used cloud sync, you can request deletion of server-side data by emailing your@email.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
7. Children's privacy
Tally HQ is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
